LiveEdge! by Nomad Innovations is Electronic News Gathering (ENG) transmitted via high bandwidth, wireless and wired broadband networks without a need for microwave or SNG trucks. LiveEdge! delivers broadcast quality (NTSC) two-way integrated video/audio/data communications, including IFB, return video and intercom. There are no requirements for frequency licensing. LiveEdge! is available in markets where Nomad Innovations has network agreements, and the list is growing.
How It Works
Just mount a LiveEdge! unit on the back of a camera and connect it to a small antenna mounted on a tripod. Connect to the network. At the station, a transceiver is integrated with existing production equipment. Technical Specs (link) are available for download.
Solutions
LiveEdge! not only enables roving news crews to broadcast directly from the scene of a story. LiveEdge! also can transmit outside of the range of a broadband network with a relay via a microwave or SNG link. LiveEdge! can provide connections to fixed weather and traffic cameras. And LiveEdge! can make it easier and less expensive to broadcast live events such as football games and parades.
While microwave and SNG units require line-of-site, LiveEdge! does not, as long as you’re within the coverage area of the broadband network or can relay to it. LiveEdge! can be set up in about five minutes wherever you want your live shot and can provide field crews with IFB, an off-air signal, script information, or teleprompter.
